“Preserving the Past, Breeding for the Future.”
Registered Texas Longhorn Cattle in Ohio
Dimmerling Longhorns is a multi-generational, family-owned farm located in Southeast Ohio. For over 20 years, under the leadership of Mike and Valerie Dimmerling, along with our children – Tyson, Josh, and Dany – and their families, our farm is founded on a strong work ethic, heritage, and a shared passion for cattle.
Our program is built on preserving the heritage of the Texas Longhorn while breeding cattle that meet the needs of today’s breeders, ranchers, and collectors.
We focus on calm disposition, sound conformation, horn growth, and classic Longhorn coloration. Every animal on our ranch is handled with care and selected with purpose, whether they are destined to become foundation cattle, herd sires, or part of a growing breeding program.
We proudly offer registered Texas Longhorn bulls, cows, and heifers, along with authentic Longhorn skulls. Availability changes throughout the year, and we encourage interested buyers to reach out for current offerings.

Our Story
Since 1994, our operation has evolved significantly. What began as a small family farm raising crossbred beef cattle has gradually transitioned into a passion for raising Registered Texas Longhorn Cattle—a shift rooted in experience, quality, and tradition.
Our journey with Longhorns began unexpectedly when a longhorn calf appeared in our barn as a prank from a family friend. At the time, we were bottle-feeding Holstein steers and decided to raise the calf alongside them. We grain-fed the calf until finishing and ultimately chose to keep it rather than sell it. With no intention of changing the direction of our operation, we were pleasantly surprised by the exceptional quality of the beef and the added health benefits it offered, that experience planted the seed for what would become our future.

As our interest grew, we began purchasing longhorn calves to feed out, quickly learning how difficult they were to source. We started with ex-roper calves, feeding out the steers while retaining heifers to build our herd. Over time, we connected with a producer offering registered longhorns, allowing us to begin transitioning our herd from commercial cows to registered cattle.

In December of 2023, my wife surprised me with a trip to Dickinson Cattle Company in Barnesville, Ohio, where we selected our first ITLA Registered Bull. We fell in love with a bull named Entry Box, a son of the well-known bull Drop Box. Shortly thereafter, we expanded our herd with a purchase of ten registered cow-calf pairs.

Over the past year, we have invested heavily in educating ourselves on registration, genetics, horn development, and herd management. This commitment led us to officially become ITLA members, obtain our farm brand approval through the State of Ohio, and purchase branding irons—marking the beginning of registering calves.
Today, we continue to strengthen our herd by adding outstanding genetics while maintaining our commitment to producing quality beef, butchering approximately 20 grain-fed steers each year. Our operation remains family-owned and family-driven, built on integrity, stewardship, and a passion for raising exceptional cattle.
